Scott Adams’s beloved comic Dilbert is set to be dropped from some newspapers. Why? Because he dared to quote from a poll and express his feelings about it. Yes, you read that right. He quoted the results of a poll by Rasmussen, a respected polling company, and then expressed his feelings about the results of the poll.

In Episode 2027 of his podcast (or vlog, or whatever), Adams read out the results of the poll in regards to how blacks felt about white people. Rasmussen posed the statement “It’s OK to be white,” to which 72% of Americans agreed with it, while 12% disagreed. I will point out for the people in Oregon, Baltimore, and other Democrat Party destroyed areas, that 72 plus 12 only equals 84. In order to reach 100, we need 16 more. This means that 16% of Americans were not sure if they could agree or disagree with the statement “It’s OK to be white.” In other words, nearly 30% of all Americans seem to have a problem with people who have white skin. And it gets a little worse.

Among blacks, according to Rasmussen, only 53% agreed with the statement, while 26% said they disagreed, and 21% said “they didn’t know.” This is what Adams talked about in his show. He pointed out that 47% of black respondents in this poll have a problem with white people. Let me explain the logic here for leftists who do not understand where we are getting 47%.

It is bad enough that just over one quarter of black respondents disagreed with the statement “It’s OK to be white.” I think, however, it is far worse to say you are not sure. Why? Because I believe you are lying if you do. You have a problem with white people, which makes you a bigot at best, and a racist at worst; and somewhere deep deep deep inside of you where your soul exists, you know this is wrong, but you are too much of a coward to admit you are wrong. I can at least give a modicum of respect to the 26% of people who straight up said, “Yeah, I hate white people,” because at least they are honest. The 21% who are “not sure” do have a problem with white people, but choose to lie about it in hopes to somehow seem virtuous. Sorry, but if you do not have the testicular fortitude to say you agree that it is OK to be white (or any skin color, for that matter), then you are just as bad as the other 26% of bigots/racists. Therefore, 26 plus 21 equals 47%.

And let me be perfectly clear here: it is okay to be white, it is okay to be black, it is okay to be brown, it is okay to be olive, it is okay to be red, it is okay to be yellow. It is not okay, however, to be blue or purple, because this means you are asphyxiating.

Adams points out that 47% of black people have some kind of issue with whites, which, as I have already stated, makes them bigots at best, or racists at worst. How am I differentiating? Hate. Racism requires hate, while bigotry just requires ignorance. He then proceeded to say that if that many black people have a problem with white people, then perhaps white people should not be around black people. He points out that for years he had been doing things to help the black community. This poll, however, indicated to him that no matter what white people do, it will not matter to nearly half of the population of the people he is trying to help. So, Adams in essence is saying, “F- this. Screw you guys, I’m going home!”

Apparently, this was a racist rant by Adams, worthy of dropping his comic strip. Some clown named Chris Quinn at The Plain Dealer made the announcement at Cleveland.com. Now, I loathe to give publications like that a click, but I had to read the story to figure out what the big hoopla was about. Quinn at least had the decency to link to Adams’s video, but only asserted that his rant was racist without explaining exactly why it is that what Adams said was racist. I wonder if Quinn is supportive of black only dorms, or black only graduation ceremonies. If he is, then perhaps he should be removed as editor of The Plain Dealer, because he would be supportive of segregation, and, therefore, just as racist as he accuses Adams to be. That is an unfair straw man argument, I know; I bring it up to highlight yet another inconsistency in the woke”logic”. The fact that he cited the Daily Beast only goes to show, though, that Quinn is not a serious person.

Adams’s point was that nearly half of black people, according to the poll, have some kind of issue with white people, and because of that “white people should get the hell away from black people.” So, my question is: What are you supposed to do if a bunch of people hate you? Are you supposed to stick around? That is the motivation of some black students seeking out black-only dorms and black-only graduation ceremonies. They believe white people hate them, and therefore do not want to be around them.

Under the First Amendment of the Constitution, the right of freedom of association (lefty-translation: who we can hang out with) is protected from government interference. It was this protection which made Jim Crow era segregation laws unconstitutional. However, as free citizens we may choose to exclusively associate with people who share similar values, similar faiths, and yes, even similar skin colors. Is it a good idea to segregate ourselves based on race? Probably not. But if the hatred is so deep that one quarter of black people say it is not okay to be white, and another fifth cannot be bothered to give an answer, then perhaps putting ourselves in a “racial timeout” might be beneficial?

There is a high degree of probability that someone will read this and misconstrue my argument as supportive of segregation a la Jim Crow. Parents: when two of your children are fighting, what do you do? The first thing you do is you separate them, you send each to separate rooms, right? Thus, you are segregating your children out of necessity. Once they both calm down, you bring them back together dole out some discipline, and hopefully they learn not to fight with each other again. Will this tactic work at the macro level? Have we tried it? Again, not forced and punishable by law, but just a “You go over there, I will be over here. Let us all take a deep breath and calm down for a bit, then let us get back together to talk about what happened.”

We will never be able to get ourselves out of this divisive tribalism unless we are able to have honest conversations with one another. What Adams said does not come close to being racist at all. There was no hatred in his tone, no condescension, and his opinion was not born out of ignorance. He is frustrated, like many people are, about the racial divide in our country. Punishing someone just because they are frustrated with a situation by removing their livelihood is petty, juvenile, and cruel. Quinn, in his pathetic letter, ignored the fact that nearly half of blacks in the Rasmussen poll had a problem with white people. Instead, he chose to boost his woke street-cred and reward the bigotry/racism from the black respondents.

I, for one, am tired of this bull crap as well. I can’t tell you how much I wish we could shut up and smile.
